About Me

My name is Amy Sapirstein, aka: Active Urban Mom.  I am 35, living in New York City with my loving husband and our two beautiful daughters, Blakely (3) & Keaton (6 months).  Until  the birth of our first daughter I had been a focused career women.  Now I am getting used to and loving my roles as 2nd time mommy and budding entrepreneur.   I hope to use my blog to share some of my experiences as an active mom in a big city, running my own business and the adventures I try to fit in along the way.

    Hi, Amy!

I am headed to the Chicago casting for the TLC Woman Inventor Show next week!! I live in Southern New Jersey and wanted to get to the NYC casting, but was not ready. I am so excited I can barely stand it. I was happy to find your website and blog about your experience. Your product sounds fantastic!

Now I too am hoping for a green ticket and, who knows, maybe we’ll meet down the road!

    Good luck and best wishes,

    Jen Cannon

Hi, Amy! I have been so curious to see if anyone shared their experience about the casting process for this. I just googled “open casting experience for TLC Woman Inventor Show” and that’s how I found you. I have never done anything like this before – I am SO excite and feel prepared and ready to have fun with it . I am not nearly as far along in the process as you are – I found about the show by accident on June 4 and that jolted me into action. My invention has been living in my head for some time and, because staying home with my young daughters keeps me hoppin’, I would just think “oh, I’ll get to that someday”…well I hoope that someday is now!! My invention is a specialized cleaning tool…

I have been telling all of my friends about your fabulous Mommy Mitten!! Thanks so much for the good wishes and I will let you know how it goes on Thursday.

OH – were there hundreds and hundreds of folks there? Just curious about how early I’m going to show up on Thursday morning :).

    Thanks for writing back…

    Hoping for my “green ticket”,

Jen Cannon p.s. I’m also on FB if you want to send a message that way!

Amy, Thanks so much. I would love to stay in touch. I would love to chat with you about other topics besides the show. I just launched Carry-Her in January. Since the casting my sales have gone up slightly. I have a really good feeling about the show. I think it may be the next American Idol. I think there will be more than one season for sure. Here is my FB fan page link

By the way…I was #156 and #15 to get a green card. I overheard someone say the producers were only giving out 20 green cards on the 10th. Kudos to us!!
